Its exhausting to see so many Twilight fans and Twilight skins and stuff. Not that I don't like Twilight, I worship the books and the movie and I adore it and I will marry Edward one day, but because so many people like something, I often feel part of the crowd. I want to branch out. Listen to other music, read other books, watch other movies. I guess that is why I am obsessed with different things. I don't like people telling me what to listen to (aka the top 40. It may be their top 40, but not mine!) and watch. That is why instead of listening to whatevers 'in' I listen to
other music. Take Barbra Streisand for example. She's not 'in' (duh) and sure, I don't really listen to the music she puts out now, I don't really like the stuff much. I adore her early 60's songs where she would belt out everything from old jazz tunes to comedic songs. Also, I really like acoustic pop easy listening tunes like Regina Spektor or Kate Miller-Heidke. I am always looking for other music to listen to, because music is a big part of my life. So please, don't mock me for listening to different music, I don't mock your music (....much....).
Ugh, yes. I need to read Twilight, just so I can contribute to all the conversations, haha. Half the people I know hate it with a passion but admit that it's addictive; the other half love it. I guess I'll find out.
ReplyDeleteI've been trying to stop myself avoiding things just because they're popular...it doesn't always mean they're bad (as I keep having to remind myself), but I agree that you should look beyond the top 40 or whatever.
Although, I'll admit that I have a Britney Spears song in my library and I cringe a little each time it comes up on shuffle. XD
