Things I've learnt from Girlfriend this month
I just bought this months issue of 'Girlfriend' (not the one on the picture, the other one of Eddy and Bella) and as I was reading it I
thought 'I has taught me a lot' so here is the list:
thought 'I has taught me a lot' so here is the list:- In pictures, the contrast of the dress matters
- On the 21st of June, it's world music day
- Apparently, pale skin is in. Thats good on my part.
- Ingrid Michaelson is becoming more recognised in Australia, with her song on a tiny picture of an iPod. Its 'Winter Song' BUY IT! (page 110 people)
- I wanna buy T2 and drink it
- 'Yo Gabba Gabba' is apparently a good TV show. I reckon its scary.
- Some author has ripped off twilight (down to the cover).
- Girlfriend's a huge contradiction, with little tags of 'Reality Checks' but having heaps of gorgeous models on their pages
- And finally, this blog sounded better in my head than it is. But I'll post it anyway.

Nail painting is fun...when you have nails
my pandora bracelet is annoying me when i type. I would take it off,but my nail are still a little wet (I wish i didn't decide to paint them) and i don't want to wreck my bracelet. Oivey.
Today I went downtown to get a new school bag. All my friends were at netball. I don't see why they think playing in freezing weather is fun. But then, they might not see why I enjoy doing 13 hours of dancing. hmm. Anyway. So...I had to go downtown by myself or with dad. I chose myself, so I could have a look around. It wasn't as bad as I thought, shopping alone is quite calming. And the store people are very nice. Even a cute boy working at a store smiled at me on the way out *squee!*. Spent $50 bucks at cotton on. I love their winter stuff its really nice. Better than their summer stuff. My new bag is from Mark Anthony's. I would have liked better, but beggers can't be choosers. After all, it is mid-year, and bags aren't a huge priority. Its brown, has silver-ish swirls and is roxy. It is not as big as my last bag (thank gawd! I never knew that I could cop so much flack from a bag! Geez they were really scraping the bottom of the bucket for things to bag me out with). Anyway. I got chips from Maccas, and they gave it to me in this cute mini-bag. And I got an ice-chocolate from Sugars. Everyone go to Sugars, my sisterworks there!.
And the best news, my party is tonite! Yay! 21 girls at La Porchetta LOL. Have no idea what I'm getting.
Anyway, I'll tell you about it tomorrow!

just one fo the many things that make teenagers self-conscious
Ok, this is a convo from the internet that a teenage girl had with a teenage boy. Both were 13. The girl had been having a weird relationship with the boy (not as in gf-bf relationship as in the boy was mean to her for no apparent reason). After reading this, you'll see why so many girls are self-conscious. The girl's name is 'Miss Y' the boys name is 'Mr X': (the convo bit turns out weird)
You see, the girl started this convo because she wanted to end this war, because this isn't the first time Mr X has been mean. It didn't work. What else could the girl have said? What would you say if that happened to you? She retaliaited, only because she couldn't think of anything else to say. I'm not posting this to show how stupid boys are, but to show that bullying is never cool.

Reasons to stop biting your nails (Even if you don't, tell your friends who do, to read this)
I have been a compulsive nail biter since I was 3. I remember that first incident because my sister was baby-sitting me. But thats another story.
Anyway, being an OCD nail-biter, I find it hard to show people my hands or wear nail polish. People tell me to put some foul smelling stuff on my nails. I told them that it wouldn't work, because not only do I bite my nails, I also rip them off (Sounds gross, but OCD people are like that).
Bad things that come out of nail-biting:

Bad things that come out of nail-biting:
- They look disgusting
- If you pick the skin around them, the skin looks gross
- It really hurts
- You get self-conscious about your nails
- You get jealous to people who can wear nail polish
- You can't enjoy nail-polish
- You can't stop biting your nails
- When you try to wear lip-gloss which is sticky to stop biting, you just forget you have it on and end up with sticky fingers...yuk
- Friends get really grossed out and make you feel worse, which gets you stressed and makes you bite your nails more
- When you try to grow them again, you feel the nails and they are really annoying and you end up biting them again
- When you try to regrow them, they grow awkwardly and wonky so before they get to length to file them, they break off and you just want to finish the job you didn't start
- You don't concentrate on what you're meant to be doing, and you end up being scolded for nail-biting and half a finished job. Annoying.
- You get mouth infections, which hurt.
- And this reason, which is most prominent, is that when you bite your nails, your bottom jaw is pushed forward. That is not how the jaw is meant to go, and with that repeditive movement, the jaw socket it spazzed out, resulting in a clicking of the jaw and eventually the lock of the jaw, which is painful, scary and annoying. This could result in a lifetime of bad jaw-lock, like I have. And it's all because of my nail-biting.

Needing to learn to braid

Sweet Sweet hours
I hate having msn conversations where you have to bite your tongue, (or refrain from typing how you feel) because if you do, it will turn into a real fight? Oh I hate it. And the other person keeps being so annoying. And you want to stop the conversation, but the other person started it and won't shut up? Thats happening now. For friends who know me well, I think u can guess the person :P
I'm wearing this watch I got at an American airport for 10 dollars. It only have 4 lines for numbers so I don't read it often. It just looks pretty kewl.
I played the Sims 2 on PS2 for the first time in a long time. It was really fun, although it got boring after my two sims married.

A lot a lot a lot of posts today
Since the 3rd week of term 1, I have asked my Dad to drop me off at the round-a-bout opposite the botanic gardens. This worked particularly well in Summer, because it was the perfect temperature outside at 8:20am in the morning. I would turn my iPod on, and listen to Regina Spektor's outrageously beautiful songs, and Ingrid Michaelson's gorgeous love songs. I used to walk up Collin's (?) street and I would just enter in the hall way. But I was still getting to school too early and ending up being a loner, so I would walk down Grandview. What I have learned:
- Everything is more beautiful in the mornings
- Regina Spektor's songs are perfect strolling music
- The sun is great warmth when it isn't in your eyes
- People walk to school so fast, like they want to get to school
- I walk slow
Could this be the start of some utter hate?
Could not think of a good title. I really couldn't.
Right now I am about to do mathletics. I really hate it, and Mr Corben assigns heaps of work. Although I have mad hair. Awesome hair. I think it was funny how Mr Corben introduced himself to the class 'Hello, I am Mr Corben, and you can call me Mr Corben'. Hahaha

Cross Country
- Went off to a slow start and watched my 'running person' bolt into the distance
- Was puffed out around 30 seconds in
- Started walking, angry about my unfitness
- Started running when I downhill bit came up
- Downhill bit didn't last long
- Was overtaking and being overtaken by Billie, two girls in my age group, Abeera Said, Zach Biggin and Raegan Jones.
- Repeatedly
- So I was puffing and breathing really heavily and almost hyperventilating (thinks of Lano and Woodley episode)
- Got a drink
- Bolted down the hill, couldn't stop
- Walked
- Ran and walked
- Bolted to finish posts.
- Was suprised I came 7th
- yay 7th
A combination of Tulips and Daisys. I call them, Todaisies.
Today was the last day
Part of me wanted to stay home
Part of me wanted to to the Cross Country
Well what happened today?

Well what happened today?
- I woke up just as my alarm was going off at 7am. But I wasn't as tired as usual, probably because of retarded daylight saving stuff. Although I'm glad it stopped, because I was getting up around 10 mins before sunrise. Fun fun fun.
- I had my usual shower, not as tired as normal, and got out and stumbled a little. I found my tiredness.
- My hair was wet and cold. Had brekkie, Weetbix all soggy (I don't care what the stupid NSEW says, I like soggy weebix!)
- Got ready pretty early, so lay down on sofa until I had to dry my hair.
- Was fretting on whether to walk the l0ng way to school and chill out to my iPod, or take my thoroughly overdue books back to library and not chilling out to my iPod.
- Chilled out to iPod and walked long way*
- Had Mr Corben for maths
- Someone sneezed wrong and he exploded
- Had ANZAC assembly. Pretty boring, but I respect all that stuff.
- Recess, went to canteen, bought frozen youghurt. Overly enthusiastic Mr Curry served me. Had really long recess.
- Had music. Mr Fletcher refused to ask the only piece of trivia I knew**
- Went to lunch, decided to buy salad wrap I don't like because boy in front of me bought one.
- After removing all unnecessary products (Tomato and Beetroot) wrap tasted fine. Also bought coke which came in handy after Cross Country
- Went to oval. Cursed about my oversized bag. I hate it.
- Sat down. All my friends were stressing about cross country. I wasn't nervous. Whats to be nervous about? I run for *fun* and go alright. Peeps taking it serious have nothing to worry about.

I love having my iPod on in the shower.
Well, not in the shower, playing whilst I'm in the shower. Then I can sing along to Regina Spektor or Ingrid Michaelson.
I just fooled Maddie for April Fools Day that I had broken ribs and that I couldn't see her before she went to Thailand. Coz she fooled me into believing she was going out with a guy. Funny, right?
Anyway, I have nothing to talk about. Oosy I'm getting Maccas for tea. It's one of those meals you love to hate? I mean its crap food, but I can't help but like it. Yes, I'm confusing.
Just had maccas....it was filling but okay...

Dont you hate it when...
you hear a snippet of a song either on the radio, on a movie or someone is singing it while you walk past? Oh I hate it. It annoys me.

They'll name a city after us..

I adore buttons. I'm not sure why. They're very cute I think. Maybe what brought this on was that in textiles we have to make a skirt. So I have been paying close attention to skirts. In magazines, walking down the street. I want a skirt with buttons. Big buttons. Scattered in two straight lines down the skirt. Either square or circular. Big buttons like the buttons on the 'Miss Marmelstein' dress. Maybe my skirt can be vintage. Wouldn't that be interesting? Well you will have to see. I saw some gorgeous black and white checkered material. But I won't reveal too much :P
I am hot, tired and wishing for some freak reason to call the swimming carnival off. There are many reasons why. Firstly, I am not a swimmer. Never have been, never will be. Secondly, I can't dive. Not one bit. Thirdly, If I go in backstroke (only one where you don't have to dive), I don't have a one piece. And I am not embarrassing myself in front of 1200 people. No siree.
Did everyone listen to 'Down with love'? Clever lyrics I reckon.
I am about to go to the RSL club. Quite nice food, actually. When the food doesn't go cold. Oh, my sisters singing the ad for the RSL. So, you know...listen out for it.
Please have an open mind people. You know how they say 'when one door closes, another one opens'? Well they cant get the door open if your blocking the way. Let things happen. Be spontaneous.
'Absent minded me, I'm losing a key, or missing a glove, just like me to lose my love' - Absent minded me.

Dedications
I'd like to dedicate this post to everyone who has ever been rejected, dumped, or had unrequited love for someone. You are not alone, and though you might feel like crap today, tomorrow will be brighter and better. You were too good for them anyway.
This is one of my favorite songs on this topic. The lift your spirits here is a fantastic rendition of the song, 'Down with love' (click the link)

Patience...

I am not very patient, and I know it. Not 5 minutes ago, I was bored from watching the start of a tennis match on TV so I walked down here. I'm not patient with people, and with other things too. But when I want to do something I want to do it well. I haven't opened my 'learn Dutch in 3 months' cassette yet. I still have to fill out an application to dance. I need to go on a diet, but I just ate some cake.
When I obsess over something (or someone) I really feel for it. I don't give up. I just forgot what I was going to say. I'm reading my Barbra Streisand biography. Its really interesting. When mum would talk about her before I became a fan, I thought the same thing you all thought when your reading this. But I was open to change, I was open to new music and it has been one of the best things ever. It has broadened my music choice, it has given me hope to go for my dream (to be a famous musical theater actress - or any actress for that matter. ) and it has told me that being different won't stop you from doing what you want. Example, Barbra Streisand was gawky, had a big nose, odd fashion, an over-the-top Brooklyn accent and was controlling. But she knew what she wanted to be, and she went for it. Isn't that something? It just shows that if you want something bad enough, it will happen. Watch this space.
Back to my 'patience' issue, I need coaching on how to be more patient. I fidget, think about the strangest things when I'm bored and even if I've worked to get somewhere so hard (eg. dance ensemble) when I'm doing it I get bored and just want to go home. If I want to be an actress, I will have to learn to be more patient.
All through last night, I had (and still have) the song 'I believe in love' from 'A star is born' (1976) in my head. Seriously, I remember waking up through the night twice, and having the phrases run through my head constantly. That doesn't usually happen.

Singing Blues
Hey. I am typing on a good keyboard now.
What I really wanted to say is, pardon me for talking just about myself - I really do hate bragging - but seriously I gotta tell you, I hate the sound of my voice. I do! And I always have. I hate the watery young tone of my voice, and I can't listen to myself sing, at all. I don't know why people say they loved my singing or anything, because I hate the sound my voice makes. I just needed to get that off my chest. But, you're thinking, 'Why do you sing so much? Around the house and at school and everywhere?' I sing because I really really enjoy it. I know that doesn't make sense, me not really liking the sound of my voice, but its true. I enjoy letting yourself go, being another person for a few minutes, pretending to be the character in the song, to let yourself feel the emotion the songs gives you. I love just singing and singing. I also like it when people actually enjoy my singing (thats always a plus). Well thanks for listening. Also, be prepared to hear me sing a lot more, because I am going to make a career of singing no matter what. I just love it that much.
'Oh - your hands they're like buttah!' - Mike Myers portraying a character on 'Coffee Tawk' when he's holding Barbra Streisand's hands.

All that I know is I'm breathing
Hello out there. Yeesh its been a while. I have been feeling guilty for not posting, but my wrists have been sore, and I had nothing to talk about. I still don't have much to talk about at the moment.
My nephews are coming down for the week, because of my sisters engagement party. They are Riley, Brodie and Darcy (all boys). They are very cute, but the only annoying thing is when they want to play cricket in 40 degree heat for hours on end. Oivey!
I just had Subway. I like Subway very muchly. Yesterday I went to the town library to borrow the book 'Diary of Anne Frank' (I adore it, though its so sad. I've read it once, but it was for school so I didn't enjoy it much). I also borrowed 'Streisand - the biography' (I don't know if I'll enjoy it.) And 'Learn Dutch in 3 months' (I couldn't find a french one so I'm learning Dutch now).
I have made 3 other youtube videos, two of them wouldn't post due to copyright issues (damn). But you can check my other one out on youtube. It probably won't interest you though. Just comment if you wan't to see it.

Who Has Youtube Channels?
I'm really curious, who has a youtube channel around here? I guess I'm really asking Kaitlin 'do you have a youtube channel?' If you do, please tell me.
My computers very hot atm. And I don't mean good looking hot. I mean my hands are starting to hurt.

Hello out there.
I suppose I should post something. I just had dinner, and I am about to watch Amercias next top model (yeah yeah yeah, throw whatever your holding at me) and yeah...I'm listening to Funny Girl. Its good. Watch the movie. Now.
Don't you reckon that all the famous clothes and make up designers who are kind of old now dress absolutely ridiculously? Seriously, in this magazine I saw a picture of this designer, and she looked awful! She had bright blue eyeshadow, her white/gray hair and crazy spots on her cheeks which I think are blush. Anyway, enough of that.
Call every girl who is getting married a 'sadie' (pronounced SAY-dee). She won't get it, you won't get it, but I will.
I really want my hair to look like Alice Cullens, but also like Daisy Gambles, but also I like how mine looks like for some reason. I hate managing hair right now without a fringe, so I'll go nuts if I got a fringe. I'm really tired, so my blog isn't making sense.
I'll leave you with this statement:
'For the first time in the history of the world, the fashion is simply to be yourself; go for it! - Sally Edith Benjamin

This is so exciting!

I know most people will roll their eyes at me and just disapprovingly say 'Steph' at this blog entry, but I just had to show my excitement!!!! When I parents were cleaning out the house, they found the bible of all Streisand fanatics! Its the 'Barbra - the first decade'. It has gorgeous pictures and stories of Barbra Streisand when she was in her early 20's. I liked her best in the 1960's, and I really wanted this! Oh, the fortunate fortunes when you have a Streisand fan as a mother!!! I am reading it now...

Twilight fanatics everywhere

Its exhausting to see so many Twilight fans and Twilight skins and stuff. Not that I don't like Twilight, I worship the books and the movie and I adore it and I will marry Edward one day, but because so many people like something, I often feel part of the crowd. I want to branch out. Listen to other music, read other books, watch other movies. I guess that is why I am obsessed with different things. I don't like people telling me what to listen to (aka the top 40. It may be their top 40, but not mine!) and watch. That is why instead of listening to whatevers 'in' I listen to
other music. Take Barbra Streisand for example. She's not 'in' (duh) and sure, I don't really listen to the music she puts out now, I don't really like the stuff much. I adore her early 60's songs where she would belt out everything from old jazz tunes to comedic songs. Also, I really like acoustic pop easy listening tunes like Regina Spektor or Kate Miller-Heidke. I am always looking for other music to listen to, because music is a big part of my life. So please, don't mock me for listening to different music, I don't mock your music (....much....).
Success!
Yay!
I have finally completed one of my 'to do' list tasks for the 2009 holidays! Its a video (excerpts from the movie 'On a clear day you can see forever' with the song 'A Daisy Through Concrete' its about the character Daisy Gamble in the movie. (If you haven't seen the movie, Daisy is the one with the red bob). You may not enjoy this vid to the fullest if you haven't seen the movie. Its a good movie. I'll give you a short synopsis of it:
Its about a kooky young woman (Daisy Gamble) who can hear phones before they ring, do wonders with flowers and can see into past lives. When she stumbles upon a hypnotist she finds to try and help her to quit her smoking addiction, she goes under hypnosis, and tells the hypnotist of a past life where her name was Melinda Tentrees. After a few sessions of hypnosis, the hypnotist falls in love with Melinda, and Daisy falls in love with the hypnotist. Well, I'm getting a little confused myself so just watch the movie. I have it at my place to borrow.
I don't own the video or the audio. The video is below this post, but if it doesn't work, the URL is here:

'Oh god, don't you hate cigarettes' - Daisy Gamble

Dog on the Tuckerbox
Hello Everyone.
I just spent my 2 days of the weekend in good 'ol Canberra. We did a lot, I saw my whole family and attended a funeral. It was good to see everyone again, but it was under terribly tragic circumstances. For 2 and a half hours I avoided engaging in the very in-depth conversations between my Dad, Mum, Uncle and Nana (I achieved this by tuning out and listening to my iPod for quite some time. Its good I uploaded songs the day before we went). My battery lasted the way there and back (just). So I caught up with my cousins and laughed a lot. (Thats the trouble with having a family like mine - a terribly funny sense of humour).
I adore the smell of scones but don't adore the taste much.
I want to learn French. And piano. And to have a great sense of humour. And to laugh at myself.
